A9, the search engine from Amazon.com, has relaunched its search engine. It now offers search results from several different sources, including the IMDB and of course, Amazon.com.
Google News has added a whole bunch of features while we weren't lookin'. First off there's a new pull-down menu at the top of the page which easily allows you access to the top stories across all the Google News properties. If you look at that menu you'll see that several properties have been added, including China, Hong Kong, Korea, Taiwan, and Japan.
If you use Alerts you'll also notice that you've got a couple new options with that as well. The first one is that you can now specify alerts for Web pages, for news searches, or for both. (I've also noticed that the alerts are now in HTML instead of plain text. bleh.)
Now THIS is a marvelous idea. Put a bunch of content management systems online with screenshots, and descriptions. Make the admin passwords public so that anyone can log in and "test-drive" the system. Delete and reinstall each system every two hours. It's called opensourceCMS.com and you can get to at http://opensourcecms.com/ , natch.
The front page has announcements and news. The list of CMS is on the left side of the page and is divided into categories: portals, blogs, e-commerce, groupware, forums, e-learning, misc, and Wiki.
Google has announced enhancements to its newish Google Local service at http://local.google.com . When you go to the page you'll see a space for what you're looking for and another space for where you'll looking.
The results pages is where you'll see the real difference.
